Robert Bard joined Dorchester as a Partner in 2009 and subsequently became Managing Partner and then President of the firm. In that role, Robert oversees all aspects of the firm including security analysis and portfolio management and setting the firm’s culture. Robert serves as the firm’s Ultimate Designated Person, a regulatory designation. A key part of Robert’s role remains being active with clients on a direct basis. Prior to Dorchester, Robert earned a BA in Administrative and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario in 1992. Robert began his investment career at RBC Dominion Securities working in its private wealth management division for three years. Following that, Robert joined Magna Vista Capital Management, a predominantly high net worth investment manager, playing a key role in security analysis, portfolio management, and working with clients. As a Partner of the firm prior to its sale to AGF Management in 2000 and a key member of the investment team following, Robert became the Managing Director in 2005. Robert is a Certified Investment Manager (CIM), a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Robert serves and has served as a senior executive and on the board of a number of non-profit organizations. Robert is a member of YPO (Young President’s Organization) and YPO Gold and has served as the Quebec Chapter’s Assistant Learning Officer, Learning Officer, and Chapter Chairman.
